New Yong Ba videos

Thanks to Ying Ying, who regularly checks on the giant pandas around China, took time to go and see Yong Ba, who lives at the Safari Park Shenzen. If you remember, Yong had received quite a bit of attention recently, after a visitor posted on their blog that they thought she was not be treated properly. A pair of researchers from the Wolong panda base came to the park to inquire and made a list of recommendations for the park to take care of for the benefit of Yong who they estimate was born around 1983. You can read about the recommendations they made on our last update here.

Here are a couple of videos that Ying just brought back. They show Yong Ba eating plenty, with a good view of her enclosure and the second video show Yong and how she knocks on the door leading to another enclosure, but then moves to the outside area where her new keeper has prepared something for her. Thanks, Ying, its good to see dear Yong doing well.

Qing Qing Foundation awards at Wolong

Ms.Cheng Qing, president of Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, took the life-time adoption of the giant panda, Qing Qing in 2007.

When she knew that the employees of China Research & Conservation Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) endangered their own lives to save the giant pandas and the foreign travelers during the earthquake, she was deeply moved. She decided to set up the "Qing Qing Foundation".

Through the foundation, she is donating 10,000 RMB (Renminbi) or around $1,500.00 to CCRCGP each year for 5 years. The leaders of CCRCGP determined to award the first bonus to the four employees who are voted 'Top Ten Excellent Employees in 2008' and whose families were severely damaged from the earthquake and have economic difficulties.

Congratulations to keepers Zhou Xiang, Wang Zhengquan, Yang Changjiang and Dong Li.

CCRCGP believes, with the support and selfless care to the giant panda conservation from Ms. Chen Qing and people with love, the employees of the center will work toward reconstructing a more beautiful panda home.
