Washington, D.C. had its first snow day and although it didn't provide a thick white blanket for Tian, Mei & Tai to roll in, they did enjoy the cooler temperatures. In the video, Tai is up in a tree top taking advantage of the heavy snow that pulled down some bamboo that grows outside his enclosure far enough for him to reach it. To a panda there is nothing like fresh boo!
Thanks to Daniel.techie for the photos and Nikographer for the video of Tai.
Here they are in order of appearance...Tai Shan, Tian Tian, Mei Xiang

Thanks Rita and PandaJoy for the negotiations info on Mei and Tian.

I'm glad to see Tai enjoying DC snow. (And I look forward to hearing about his adventures in China snow.) Thanks for posting this.
Re: Mei and Tian. The zoo will begin negotiating about their future this spring. The official word is that they are optimistic that there will be pandas at the National Zoo for years to come. But it's too early to say anything more.

Its lovely to see Tai in the snow, but kind of sad too. Is it true that Mei and Tian will have to go back to China end of next year as well? Its not fair, is it? I've never actually met them, but I feel so sad about it. I got to know them pretty well through pandacam, videos and you. THANK YOU, DEE!!!!!!!!!!
