One of the things on everyone's minds since Tai Shan and Mei Lan left their homes in the U.S. is how will they adapt? You can rest assured that the keepers and staff at both panda bases Bifengxia and Chengdu take great care of the pandas.
If you remember it was these same people who risked their own lives to save the pandas from the terrible earthquake that totally destroyed the Wolong Base.
Fu Long who recently moved to China from his home at the Vienna Zoo is showing us that life in China is just great. As you can see from this photo that was sent from China, and reported on the German website Krone.at that Fu has made a new friend along with others and seems to be settling in quite well. His friends name is Wu June which means 'an investment'. You can tell Fu Long from his white tipped foot.
"Fu Long, who lived from his birth in August 2007 until late last year at Vienna's Schoenbrunn Zoo, shares with the "handsome" - the German translation of Wu in June is - an investment. In Vienna it is please that the ex-protege feel comfortable in the Chinese panda breeding and research station Bifengxia.
We are very pleased that Fu Long can now live together in China, with the same age peers. His carers have told us that the two pandas play a lot together and understand each other well," said zoo director Dagmar Schratter."
Several have mentioned about Mei Lan climbing the bars at the Chengdu Base when she first arrived. That is normal behavior for pandas to explore their new surroundings checking out the strange scents and so on. As we all know Mei Lan was an adept climber. Remember how she climbed the mesh in the keeper area before she came out to meet the public? I also remember seeing a photo, which I can't find right now, that showed Fu Long climbing the bars when he arrived at Bifengxia and we see he is doing quite well.
Being unhappy is like an infectious disease.
It causes people to shrink away from the sufferer.
He soon finds himself alone,miserable and embittered.
There is,however,a cure so simple as to seem,at first glance,ridiculous;if you don't feel happy,pretend to be!
