Okay, so we pick up with the birthday celebrations for September. This holiday weekend finally gives me some time to catch up. Hope everyone is having a great Labor Day holiday in the U.S.
There is quite a big panda family at Panda Land in Japan. I see we have missed a couple of their birthdays in August and some are coming up including twins Ryuhin and Shuhin whose birthdays are today. So, let me do a little research on all of the current and other pandas who were born at PandaLand but have since returned to China and we will do a special post with all of them at once.
Over the weekend Zoo Aquarium Madrid had a birthday party for both of their pandas, female, Hua Zui Ba who may or may not be expecting a cub, (fingers crossed) and her partner Bing Xing.
"Male panda Bing Xing and his female companion Hua Zuiba, both arrived at Zoo Aquarium De Madrid on September 8, 2007, for a 10-year stay as a part of the Giant Panda International Conservation Cooperation Project between China and Spain. The joint project was a goodwill gesture promised by the Chinese government during a visit by Spanish King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia to China in June 2007.
The above graphic is a collage birthday card of the photos that were taken when they first arrived at the Madrid zoo and had a special guest Queen Sophia of Spain.
The zoo also posted a video of the birthday celebrations they had for Hua and Bing.
Today, we also celebrate Mei Lan's birthday! Mei Lan was born at Zoo Atlanta, U.S. September 6, 2006. She just moved to the Chengdu Panda Base in February of this year. Miss you dear Mei and I hope to visit you when I eventually make my way to China. Thanks to bob2cleo of flickr for this wonderful photo of Mei Lan, I used in the graphic.
Thanks to Bobby who left this comment about the work that the Hancock Wildlife Channel has done to document Mei Lan's life at Zoo Atlanta online. I have also added the video below that Bobby refers to, if you go to this YouTube link you will see the English translation.
Thank You to saulesmeit of flickr for this great collection of photos that saules got of Mei while she lived in Atlanta.
We also have a video that was put together by lcnessie15 of YouTube that shows 'Lani' through the years. Thanks Nessie for putting this together. Happy Birthday Lani girl, we miss you!
Here is the video that Bobby mentions in the comments section. Thanks for bringing this back to us and providing the English translation!
